Karina Gonzalez

Attorney Karina Gonzalez is an experienced lawyer whose academic pedigree from Rice University and the University of Houston Law Center has allowed to become well versed in the intricacies of U.S. immigration law. As a native Houstonian and the daughter of Mexican immigrant parents, Karina has always had a special interest in the immigration area and the various options through which individuals can temporarily or permanently come to the United States.

During her graduate studies at the University of Houston Law Center, Karina began developing her professional skills through participation in the Joseph A. Vail Immigration Clinic (2009). To this end, Karina served as a Student Attorney to provide pro-bono immigration assistance to the Greater Houston community. She also participated as a Legal Extern for the Tahirih Justice Center (2010) in Houston to assist women and children fleeing gender-based violence obtain legal status in the United States. Through these experiences Karina assisted clients with asylum cases, withholding of removal claims, minors seeking special immigrant juvenile, violence against women act matters, U-visas, and T-visas.

In September 2010, Karina began her career by developing a keen knowledge of family-based immigration and business immigration matters through her employment with Graves & Graves, P.C. in Houston. As an Attorney, she assisted numerous clients obtain permanent residency through family relationships at U.S. Embassies abroad and with USCIS, as well as temporary visas (student, tourist, employee, investor, intracompany transferee) abroad. Karina also assisted employers seeking to obtain permanent residency for their employees. Additionally, during her employment with Graves & Graves, P.C., Karina aided companies facing Form I-9 audits from ICE.

Prior to opening her own office, Karina was employed as an Immigration Partner by Rosas & Suerken, PLLC in Houston as a direct result of her work ethic, commitment to clients, and exceptional knowledge of the law. From December 2012 to April 2017, Karina was responsible for determining viability for employment and family-based immigration benefits, and refining legal strategy for petitions, as necessary. Moreover, Karina was responsible for training new associate attorneys, law clerks, and administrative staff on the intricacies of immigration law and practice.
